Our Volunteers:

YACAN as an advocacy organization ensure we open the spaces for children and youth to be actively involved in whatever we do for them through our advocacy work, we take our communities along from initiating concepts, development of programs, implementing and evaluation of our intervention, we do this through various means: community action groups, school clubs, CSO platforms, media platforms.
We encourage young people to become volunteer staff and train them as interns to experience the work we do for children and youth.

Community Action Group:

Our community action Group are set up in every community we work across Sierra Leone, by this we ensure communities knows how important they are in the work we do for them, We promote safeguarding and encourages all to be law abiding at all time and we build the capacity of children and Youth according to the intervention we take to the communities. We mentor peer educators, strengthen coalitions as members and support stakeholders and young people to ensure young women and Girls are safe as they participate.
We are accountable to our beneficiaries so we let our community action groups know what we do and how they can make our work successful through their participation as we build the capacity of the community to take action by themselves.

School Clubs:

Our schools Clubs has been our core strategy to ensure children in school participate in the advocacy on education since 2005, we operate 150 school clubs in our operational areas, club members are small in number about 20 to 30 children in each group per school but their role are most time peer educators and monitors what happen in the schools. With the free quality education program implemented by Governments in Sierra Leone our school club ensures we know what children undergo and add their voice to whatever we say as we advocate for more education in Sierra Leone, child protection, safeguarding and gender Policy support on how to work with school Clubs.
